Again, and for the record, here is this year's divisional alignment:
Division 1: Nassau, North Babylon, Ridge, Westphalia
Division 2: Browntown, Laurel, Mattituck, New Libertatia
Division 3: Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, Coram, Staten Island
Division 4: Hampton Bay, Ninth Street, St. Olaf, Simpsonville
Division 5: Kohler, Philadelphia, Riverhead, Setauket
Any suggestions for division names?

ok, here's my idea for the division names: the 5 divisions would each be named for pioneers of the game - hall of famers from the late 19th and early 20th century. you know, those guys with the kickass curly mustaches. now stay with me, the divisions would be named for players in an A-E alphabetical order to distinguish their order in the tiered divisional system which will be implemented next season. Here's who would have the incredible honor to have an NFSL division named after them:
Division A would be the Anson Division, named for Cap Anson , Chicago White Stockings first baseman and "greatest hitter of the 19th century" according to his plaque.
B would be the Brouthers Division, after the "first great slugger" of the game Dan Brouthers
C would be the Chesbro Division, for spitball ace Jack Chesbro
D the Delahanty Division for career .346 hitter Ed Delahanty
and E the Ewing Division, no not for that finger-roll-missing Knicks center, but for the first catcher elected to the HoF, Buck Ewing
or we could just call them Division 1 through 5. discuss...
I like it! And the fact that Delahanty died by being swept over the Niagara falls is a good enough reason to use those guys...that poor bastard what a way to go
How do you guys know all this shit? I mean Stuff...sorry. Man I got some catching up to do. All of a sudden I feel really intimidated.
no need to be intimidated, bambino. i can't claim all that knowledge. i thought of Anson and Brouthers myself, but i went on the Hall of Fame website and looked at an alphabetical list of inductees to find the other guys. and although those mustachioed superstars put up some pretty good numbers in their day, they do me no good in putting a team together in 2007.
I was hoping Division 4 would be called the Sexy-Ass division in honor of me and Paul, but I will defer to the Klong. After all, he is my idol.
'twould be an appropriate name for sure, but would be meaningless once you've hoisted the trophy and relocate to division 1 next year. maybe that could be a floating division name that could follow the Dutch Ovens.
by the way, i hope i didn't deter anyone else from submitting an idea for the division names. this was just a little idea, inspired by the old NHL division names, that i came up with while riding the godforsaken LIRR the other night.
I'm liking this league. You guys look to be a lot of fun.
I like your thinking Kris. My only reservation is using Anson. He was a real nasty racist. Here's some reading: http://www.capanson.com/chapter4.html
yikes. i did not know that. ok, he's out. uhhh, Alexander? as in Grover Cleveland (aka Pete) Alexander? not quite from the same era as the rest of those guys. maybe a whole different crop of guys from more recent times? i wish there were more than 3 HOFers with E names. hmm. i don't know. any other different ideas?
How about HOFers coenciding Division #'s & Fielding Position #'s (Pitcher Div#1)- Cy Young (Catcher Div#2) Yogi Bera ..... You guys pick em.
